HGC/RCS NAT 1964 Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Over 50 Harvard and Radcliffe singers from around the nation and abroad will gather in Cambridge September 26-28 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Harvard Glee Club and Radcliffe Choral Society 1964 North American Tour. The event planning committee has scheduled a full weekend of activities to give returning tour members plenty of time to sing, re-connect, and share memories of HGC, RCS, and the tour.
The weekend will culminate with a 50th Anniversary Reunion Concert on Sunday morning, September 28 at 11:00am in St. John’s Memorial Chapel of Episcopal Divinity School. Under the direction of Dr. Isaiah “Jack” Jackson and Dr. Sandra “Sandy” Jarrett, the concert will include a sampling of the repertoire from the 1964 tour, including works by Barber, Poulenc, Brahms, and Faure as well as folk songs and HGC and RCS standards. The concert is free and open to the public. HGC and RCS alumni/ae are especially invited to attend. More information is available on the Foundation’s website.
SAVE THE DATE: November 21-22 Harvard-Yale Weekend
This year, The Game once again returns to Cambridge and the Harvard Glee Club Foundation is looking forward to a great weekend–and an eighth straight victory over the Bulldogs (tying Yale’s 8-game winning streak during the 1880s). The weekend begins with one of the most beloved of HGC traditions: the Harvard-Yale Football Concert. We’re hoping for a record-breaking number of HGC alumni to storm the stage and help sing the football songs this year. More details will be coming soon, along with an opportunity to purchase your concert and game tickets online. Watch your email for additional information.
It’s Fall Audition Season
Some of the finest choruses in the nation include HGC alumni on their rosters. The Harvard Glee Club Foundation is a proud supporter of life-long singing and seeks to help HGC alumni find choruses where they can use the considerable choral skills they learned as members of the Glee Club. The Foundation’s website is a great place to find choruses whose membership includes other HGC alumni. Check out the Choral Music Opportunities page and don’t forget to click on over to the Audition Notices page to see which choruses are holding auditions this fall.
If you are currently singing in a chorus and would like to have your group included on the HGCF website, send the appropriate information to: firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll get your chorus listed and will happily promote any upcoming auditions and/or concerts.
