Harvard Glee Club Foundation: Long may continue our unity and joy!
May 2013 e-Bulletin
A Glee Club Celebration! Never before have the three oldest Glee Clubs in America appeared together on the same stage! This May 21 concert finds the Harvard Glee Club (1858), the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club (1859), and the Yale Glee Club(1861) bringing their collective 450+ years of history to Sanders Theatre for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you won’t want to miss!Following the concert, alumni of the three clubs will gather with the students for a very special after-party in Cambridge Queen’s Head Pub where there will be food, drinks (cash bar), and much singing and merry-making. Click here for more information and to purchase concert and/or after-party tickets.
P.S. We’re still in need of a few local HGC alumni willing to host some singers. If you can host on the 21st, email HGC Manager, Ben Lopez, at: firstname.lastname@example.org.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities Make Good Sense
Have you been following the stock market lately? Things have been looking pretty good. As stock prices increase, however, so do the taxes owed on long-term capital gains. But, when you donate publicly traded stock you’ve owned for more than one year to the Harvard Glee Club Foundation, you get two major tax advantages:
You’ll be exempt from paying capital gains taxes on any increase in the stocks’ value—taxes you would have to pay if you sold the securities.
You are entitled to a federal income tax charitable gift deduction based on the full current fair market value of the securities, regardless of their original cost.
Facebook Group Members Are Always the First to Know! Want to be part of the inside group, the folks who always know what’s going on, the people who are always the first to know the scoop? If you’re a Facebook user, consider joining the HGCF Facebook group. We currently have 275 HGC alumni and friends as part of the group. Group members share a variety of information with each other, including upcoming nuptials, job changes, new babies, and even job openings they are seeking to fill. It’s also a great place for the Foundation to post breaking news and information about upcoming events. With nearly 2,000 living alumni across the country and around the world, we should be able to swell this group to 500, 750, even 1,000. Join us and be among the first to know…
