3-15 October 2013
The 2013 HGCAC trip offers two basic itineraries, both of which start with rehearsals in Tokyo and end with rehearsals and the concert in Sendai. For complete information about each itinerary, click on the links below:
Itinerary A: Tokyo-Sendai Itinerary – a great place to start if you’ve never visited Japan before and wish to immerse yourself in urban Japan. You will have three extra days in Tokyo, allowing ample time to explore the sights and sounds of this great metropolis before heading off to Sendai to join KGCOB for the main event.
Itinerary B: Tokyo-Tohoku-Sendai Itinerary – designed for those who wish to experience a mix of urban and rural landscapes during their stay in Japan. We will travel at a leisurely pace through the Tohoku Region north of Tokyo, including the shrines of Nikko and the mountains and lake country between Nikko and Sendai. The Tohoku Region tour will also provide opportunities to enjoy traditional folk art, pottery, and lacquer ware.
Land (hotels, transfers, etc.)
The per person land portion of each itinerary ranges widely depending on which hotels and accommodations you choose.
Itinerary A ranges from $1,610.00 per person to $4,890.00 per person
Itinerary B ranges from $2,685.00 per person to $5,100.00 per person
Airfare costs will depend on your gateway city and actual flights booked. You will be safe to estimate $1,400.00 per person for airfare.
Alumni Chorus dues of $500.00 per singer are assessed to cover the fixed costs of the trip, which include providing a conductor, music scores, lunches during Cambridge rehearsals, and some group transfers and other fixed costs in Japan. This year, member dues are also helping to cover costs associated with renting the concert hall and publicizing the concert to local audiences.
To join the 2013 Harvard Glee Club Alumni Chorus, simply submit your dues by clicking on the link below. Once we have received your dues, we will send you a “Travel Planning” document on which you can submit all the vital information that we’ll need to arrange your participation. You will also have a chance to indicate which itinerary you are choosing and which hotels and room accommodations you would like.

In addition to the rehearsals in Tokyo and Sendai, there will be two weekends of rehearsals in Cambridge:

Alumni Chorus members are asked to please make arrangements to attend at least one of the Cambridge rehearsal weekends if at all possible, ideally both!
