The family of HGC alumnus and long-time HGCF supporter, Sam Rea ’66, has notified us that Sam died this past Sunday, December 18, after a two-year battle with incurable brain cancer. Sam sang in the Glee Club under Elliot Forbes and participated in all three HGC Alumni Chorus Tours: 2001 and 2005 to Japan and earlier this year to Hawai’i. Sam was a generous donor to the Foundation and was a charter member of the HGCF Glorious Apollo Society which recognizes donors who have made arrangements in their estate plans for a planned gift to the Foundation. Sam returned to Cambridge frequently, attending the 150th Anniversary Celebration in 2008 and most recently the F. John Adams Memorial Service this past September.
A private interment will take place. A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 11am in the Chapel of Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario.
